Sidewalk and Driveway Lights

Spring is finally here so sidewalk and driveway lights will need to be working properly. Outdoor entertaining will start soon with cookouts and pool parties and lots of other events that last until after dark.  You don’t want your guests to have an accident, so this is a great time to check all those lights or add to them.

Start by walking around your home as soon as it gets fully dark to see whether your motion detector lights come on appropriately and whether any of your low voltage lamps need to be replaced.  Sometimes you need to adjust a security light, and other times you need to replace a bulb, but Spring and Fall are the best times to check and adjust each of those light fixtures.

Low voltage replacement bulbs cost only a few dollars, although on some of the lamp styles it isn’t obvious how to open them to change bulbs.    For security lights, you’ll need a ladder but most of them are very easy to change.  The new LED floodlights cost more than standard incandescent bulbs, but they are brighter and will last a lot longer.

If you don’t have enough outside lighting, this is also a great time to add a few fixtures. There are many new styles of wireless, solar-powered accent lights on the market for $10 to $20 each, so you can add a few strategically placed ones for just $100-$200.  There are also many more choices this year in motion detector lighting, which is great both for convenience and for keeping your energy bill low.  However, if you prefer wired-style lighting, we can help you add either 110-220 volt lights or low voltage home accent lights.
